Eric Boerboom

Eric Boerboom My name is Eric. I am 32 years old and was born with a neuro- muscular disease call Friedreich’s Ataxia. Over the years my disease has progressed to the point that it has made outdoor mobility for me very challenging.

Last year I an opportunity to attend an outdoor concert. The problem was because of the terrain my family was concerned about how I would be able to get around safely. My dad knows Mr. Swenson and over the years he had encouraged us to “give the chair a try”! As a family we discussed it and decided to take him up on his offer. I used the trackchair at the concert! What a difference it made in my ability to get around, and I was also better able to safely participate more fully in this event! The uplifting feeling it gave me is too hard to describe.

The 2nd time I used the trackchair was camping last year! I was able to go where I wanted and be independent! What a feeling! I was able to go to the beach and right down to the water no problem! What a change! Four people didn’t have to try to carry me which is not really all that safe for them or myself! What an uplifting experience!

It became evident that if I wanted to be outdoors and independent I needed a trackchair! People could see what a difference this chair was making for me, so very kind, caring and generous individuals rallied around me to make my dream a reality. I have been truly touched!

A heartfelt thank you to the Action Mobility Foundation and everyone to help me get my trackchair! You have impacted my life and I will never forget what you have done to change my life.
