Austin Pille

Austin Pille It was my senior year in high school, on September 30, 2013, I was in the backseat of a friend's new Mustang when he lost control, crashed and rolled. I broke my neck and injured my spinal cord. I couldn’t feel anything from the chest down. I thought this could not be real. I was ready to conquer the world, but my life was changed forever. I worked out hard and have made more progress than the doctors thought possible, but I still couldn’t go places I used to. A regular wheelchair only works well on flat hard surfaces. I live on 6 acres of land and I could only go outdoors and around the house on the sidewalk and porches. My sister found out about the Action Trackchair from a friend who knew someone who received one. She found the website and said I should apply. I applied for a grant, but never really thought it was possible to get one. Even with the grant I would have to come with a lot of money I didn’t have. When I realized that this was going to be a reality I was so excited. I couldn’t wait to drive it everywhere. It arrived on my 20th birthday as a surprise. It was the best surprise I could have asked for. I am able to go anywhere outside I want. I can help my dad in the barn. I can reach things that were impossible before. I even took it to the ball park in Arlington for a Ranger’s game. I could stand for the National Anthem for the first time in over 2 years. It is the most awesome gift. I am so appreciative of all the people who donated money through GoFundMe.com to make this happen. Nothing is impossible when God is in charge.
